Everything about Media Time
Overview
Store, organize and deliver media in Moodle
Media Time is the all-in-one media management solution for Moodle — built to store, organize and deliver media assets directly inside your learning platform. It starts with video, with support for additional media types coming. All videos live in a centralized, permission-controlled repository in Moodle; without a connector they never leave your site.
Optional connectors for Vimeo (Non-Enterprise and Enterprise), Streamio and Ignite keep you in control of where and how your media is hosted. Whether a secure internal video library, a central multimedia hub or an enterprise-grade Vimeo integration — Media Time scales with your requirements.

Global defaults with course-level overrides.
Titles, tags and descriptions.
A branded first impression for every video.
Media inside and outside Moodle, searchable by tags and keywords.
Keep all media in a well-structured repository, no matter whether it is stored inside or outside of Moodle. Metadata such as tags and keywords keeps the library easy to search, so you quickly find, edit or remove the right files.
Three repository levels: site-wide, per unit, per course.
Site repository: global content such as company-wide tutorials or institutional videos. Category repository: videos per organizational unit, department or study program. Course repository: videos visible only within the course — depending on permissions, students can upload there too — and shareable with specific course groups.
Reuse videos across courses without duplicate uploads.
Find and embed videos with search and filters in Moodle.
Videos hosted on Streamio, shown in the Media Time library.
Embed and manage Vimeo-hosted content in Moodle.
Part of the Vimeo integration: Media Time provides the course media library, Video Time plays and tracks the videos. Course structures, folder hierarchies and access permissions are synced between Moodle and Vimeo (smart sync is an Enterprise feature).
Upload in Moodle, hosted by Ignite in Europe; changes sync both ways.
Instructors upload videos in Media Time; Ignite handles encoding and secure European hosting, without separate logins. Changes to descriptions, thumbnails and tags in Media Time sync back to Ignite. Together with Video Time for playback and tracking.

Data protection & hosting
Your choice of hosting. Without a connector, videos, titles, tags and posters stay in your Moodle. If you enable a connector for Vimeo, Ignite or Streamio, Media Time sends what the platform needs to host the video — the video file, title, description, tags and subtitle settings — using the API credentials you enter. Uploads go directly from the teacher's browser to the platform. No learner data is sent. The library itself, its permissions and its search stay in Moodle, and the media library is covered by Moodle's Privacy API.
Accessibility & license
Media Time is built with Moodle's own template system and the Bootstrap components of Moodle's standard theme Boost, so it follows your theme's colours and fonts. Supports subtitles and text tracks, incl. automatic transcription with Ignite. We have not published a formal WCAG audit yet — if something gets in your way, tell us and we will fix it. Released under GPLv3, like Moodle itself.
