Timetable
Advanced time management for Moodle.
- Basic free
- Pro from €199 / year
- Pro in beta
Key feature 01 / 04
Smart scheduling and course planning
With Pro, teachers define relative start and due dates, activity durations, priorities and course timelines. Timetable generates a personal schedule for each learner and integrates it into calendars, course views and dashboards — planned forward from a start date or backward from a target date.
Key feature 02 / 04
Prediction model
Pro combines progress, completion behavior, workload and grading performance into one success prediction. Factors such as punctuality, priority or allocated time are weighted per course and managed globally.
Key feature 03 / 04
Learner overview and self-regulation
Learners see planned, elapsed and remaining time, their prediction and progress toward course completion. They adjust weekly time and learning speed and see how the forecast changes.
Key feature 04 / 04
Program-based scheduling and overrides
Assignments override the course timeline for groups, enrollment methods or single users, individually or by CSV upload. Each can be mandatory or optional, carry a priority and tags, and have an observer.
Timetable at a glance
A free block and a Pro course tool
The Timetable block shows calendar entries wherever Moodle allows blocks. With Pro, the Timetable tool adds scheduling, prediction and overrides in the course’s secondary navigation.
Everything about Timetable
Overview
Flexible scheduling and success prediction
Timetable brings flexible scheduling and a configurable prediction model to Moodle courses where fixed deadlines are not enough. It is designed for self-paced, blended and cohort-based learning, adapting courses to individual progress, enrollment dates and workload expectations.
The free Timetable block shows calendar entries and a visual timeline. With Pro, teachers set relative dates, durations and priorities, Timetable generates a personal schedule for each learner and combines progress, completion behavior, workload and grading into a success forecast. Pro is currently in beta.

-
Structure
Self-paced and cohort-based
Relative start and due dates adapt the course to each learner’s enrollment date. Groups, enrollment types and single users can get their own dates.
-
Transparency
Workload and deadlines in view
Learners see their timeline, prediction and commitments. Teachers see timing, priority and completion status per activity.
-
Early warning
Risk patterns identified early
A weighted success prediction supports proactive feedback and structured interventions. Report sources bring the data into Moodle’s report builder.
Features & pricing
Today, this week or upcoming; vertical or horizontal.
Choose today, this week or upcoming as the default view and which views users may switch to. Limit the number of events shown and display entries vertically or horizontally. Like any Moodle block, it can be added to any page that allows blocks.
Create and manage events without leaving the course.
Time-based and completion-based orientation in one place.
A visual timeline shows each course on its own line; completed courses and activities can be hidden. With Pro, the block also shows completion visuals and Timetable’s scheduled activities and assignments.
Course duration, learning time and completion deadlines, with calendar visibility.
Core scheduling settings on course level, such as course duration, due dates and learning time. Courses can be planned forward from a start date or backward from a target completion date.
Start dates, durations and priorities per activity.
Set start dates, due dates and priorities for each activity in a course.
Timing, priority and completion status per activity; filter by deadlines, priorities and time frames.
The schedule shows all course tasks and helps learners and teachers track progress.
Define how success is calculated and communicated.
Configure on course level how Timetable calculates and displays predictions.
A multi-dimensional success model with weighted indicators.
Eight factors: progress, relevancy, on track, punctuality, priority, duration, allocated time and track record. Each evaluates a different aspect of study behavior, from activity completion to personal learning commitments. The factors already work but are still experimental and will be fine-tuned over time.
Available factors and defaults at platform level.
Enable, configure and manage the prediction factors globally; courses then configure them on course level.
Planned, elapsed and remaining time, plus progress toward course completion criteria.
The overall prediction and key success factors at a glance.
Adjust weekly time and learning speed and see how the forecast changes.
The commitment feeds the allocated time factor: weekly learning time × learning speed × remaining weeks, compared with the learning time still required. This factor matters most at the start of a course, when few other indicators exist.
Different dates for rotating groups, voluntary and mandatory learners or single users.
Assignments set start, due and end dates for a group, an enrollment method or a single user and override the general course configuration. Each creates individual calendar entries per user. Add them individually or in bulk by CSV upload.
Flexible date calculation and time offsets.
Start and end dates are absolute; due dates can be absolute or relative.
Mandatory or optional, low to high priority, tags for reporting and an observer per assignment.
Mark assignments as mandatory or optional and set low, normal or high priority; the schedule filters by priority. Tags categorize assignments for reporting and dashboards. Observers take responsibility for structured monitoring.
Schedule, prediction and assignment data across courses; assignments filterable by observer.
Aggregated Timetable data in dashboard blocks.
Deadlines and progress indicators in the course interface.
Notifications and actions based on Timetable due dates.

Self-paced
Structured self-paced learning
Relative start and due dates and activity durations generate a personal schedule for each learner, based on their enrollment date. Learners set their weekly time commitment and see what is due.
Early warning
Identify risk early
Weighted factors such as progress, punctuality and allocated time combine into one success prediction. Teachers and supervisors see who needs support and can intervene early.
Programs
Complex training programs
Rotating groups, voluntary and mandatory learners get their own deadlines without changing the course structure. Observers are assigned for structured oversight.
Tech & compliance
Running it
Requirements
Free block: Moodle 3.9 to 4.5 (Timetable 1.0).
Installation & updates
Basic and Pro are installed through the Moodle plugin installer, as described in the installation guide. Pro then needs an initial configuration.

Data protection & hosting
Your data stays in your Moodle. Timetable runs entirely inside your Moodle site and stores its data in your Moodle database and file storage, on your own server. bdecent does not run a cloud service for it, and the plugin never contacts bdecent: no licence checks, no telemetry, no usage tracking. Access is controlled by Moodle roles and capabilities, so only the people you authorise can see or change it.
Accessibility & license
Timetable is built with Moodle's own template system and the Bootstrap components of Moodle's standard theme Boost, so it follows your theme's colours and fonts. We have not published a formal WCAG audit yet — if something gets in your way, tell us and we will fix it. Released under GPLv3, like Moodle itself.
