Key feature 01 / 04
Easy login
Users sign in with time-limited Magic links — no password to remember, and more secure at the same time. With Pro, Magic sign-up creates accounts on the fly, and privileged accounts enter their password before receiving a Magic link.
Key feature 02 / 04
Create and edit user accounts
With Pro, teachers add new and existing users to their courses without access to the user management. Users added this way are connected to the teacher account, so teachers can manage them.
Key feature 03 / 04
Relative role assignments
With Pro, Magic links users to their parents, mentors or supervisors based on a profile field, e.g. the parent’s email address, and assigns the matching role. Missing accounts can be created on the fly, and parents see their linked users on the dashboard.
Key feature 04 / 04
Campaigns
With Pro, create multiple registration forms with availability, access and approval rules — free or paid. On sign-up, users are enrolled in courses, added to cohorts, notified and linked to related users, with optional access expiry.

Fewer barriers to sign in
Magic simplifies sign-in and sign-up, supports sub-accounts and makes testing courses with demo users easy.
Everything about Magic
Overview
Sign-in and sign-up, simplified
Magic simplifies the sign-in and sign-up process. Inspired by modern workplace tools, users authenticate with time-limited Magic links instead of a password. Magic sign-up, if enabled, creates user accounts on the fly for new users.
With Magic campaigns, admins create multiple, highly customizable registration forms that add users to cohorts, trigger notifications and create role relationships. Teachers use quick registration to add users to their courses without access to the user management — helpful for testing and good for user privacy.

Parent users — e.g. parents, supervisors or owners — see and manage the Magic accounts linked to them; managers get a site-wide overview. Depending on permissions, users can edit, delete or suspend accounts, copy, send or override invitation links, and extend a Magic link’s expiry — e.g. for long-lasting demo account links.
Link users automatically, e.g. a child account to its parent.
Define a role for the relationship (e.g. parent, mentor or coach) and a profile field with a unique identifier such as the parent’s email address. If Magic finds the matching account, both users are linked and the role is assigned. Parents see their linked users in the Mentees block — or, with Dash Plus, in a custom dashboard block.

Data protection & hosting
Your data stays in your Moodle. Magic runs entirely inside your Moodle site and stores its data in your Moodle database and file storage, on your own server. bdecent does not run a cloud service for it, and the plugin never contacts bdecent: no licence checks, no telemetry, no usage tracking. Access is controlled by Moodle roles and capabilities, so only the people you authorise can see or change it. Magic implements Moodle's Privacy API, so its data is included when you export or delete a user's data for GDPR requests. Magic links are sent through Moodle's email. Paid campaigns use the payment gateways you have set up in Moodle's Payment API.
Accessibility & license
Magic is built with Moodle's own template system and the Bootstrap components of Moodle's standard theme Boost, so it follows your theme's colours and fonts. We have not published a formal WCAG audit yet — if something gets in your way, tell us and we will fix it. Released under GPLv3, like Moodle itself.
