Everything about Dash
Overview
Make Moodle fit your use case
Customize your Moodle site without time-consuming and expensive bespoke development. With the Dash block you change the layout, content and style of pages like the front page or the dashboard. At its heart is a query builder that makes data from courses, users, completions, site logs and more available, displayed as grid, slider, masonry or table with filters, conditions and full control over the fields.
Dash consists of the Dash block and a local plugin that adds dashboards as full-screen pages. Every data source and widget is an independent addon, so you enable only what your site needs. Basic is free; Plus, Pro and Premium add dashboards, data sources, layouts, widgets and developer tools.

Works in any block region of your Moodle.

Static content alongside the dynamic core information.
Header and footer areas add custom text above or below the dynamic content.
Options to give each block a distinctive look.

Static content with different numbers and arrangements of fields.
Static sections for text or images, with flexible layouts and individual styling options.

Sections and their activities in an accordion.
Completed and pending courses on a visual path or in zones, with status colors and an info area.
New in 2.6: zone-based positioning (experimental), new course statuses with custom colors, course shapes and visuals, a sidebar info area with KPIs, path index, faculty and badges, and conditions for prerequisites, current course and assignment tags (Timetable Pro).
Courses appear as nodes along an SVG path — or, experimentally, in zones of the layout, assigned manually or automatically. Six course statuses (not available, available, enrolled, in progress, completed, failed) each get their own color; courses show as dots or images in different shapes, with numbers or course visuals. An info area on top or in a sidebar shows up to four KPIs, a path index, faculty roles and badges. Conditions include course prerequisites, the current course and assignment tags (Timetable Pro). Separate paths for desktop, tablet and mobile are uploaded in the global settings.

Course shape and icon based on custom course fields.
Course status stays shown by color; custom course fields add further dimensions — for example priority as shape and course type as icon. Mappings are configured globally; course creators choose whether to apply them in their learning path.
Deadlines, summary and Start, Resume or Review on click.
On click, learners see the course image, summary and a call to action such as Start, Resume or Review. Assignment details like deadline, priority and type appear when available (requires Timetable Pro).
Course creators upload their own SVG designs in the Dash block.
Course creators upload and reuse their own path designs directly in the Dash block and no longer depend on designs uploaded by administrators.
Aggregated completion of all activities across learners in one or more courses.
Bespoke data sources from SQL queries.
The developer addon lets power users create bespoke data sources with SQL queries.
Layout structure defined by Mustache templates.
Create and manage Mustache templates for blocks and detail areas.
Custom data sources and layouts work in any Dash block.
More flexibility about where to place Dash blocks.

Tech & compliance
Running it
Requirements
Moodle 4.5 to 5.2 (Dash 2.7). Dash consists of the Dash block and a local plugin; the local plugin enables dashboards.
Installation & updates
Install with the Moodle plugin installer, then enable the addons you need in the global settings. Moving to a higher plan is described in the Help Center.
Reviewing it
Data protection & hosting
Your data stays in your Moodle. Dash runs entirely inside your Moodle site and stores its data in your Moodle database and file storage, on your own server. bdecent does not run a cloud service for it, and the plugin never contacts bdecent: no licence checks, no telemetry, no usage tracking. Access is controlled by Moodle roles and capabilities, so only the people you authorise can see or change it.
Accessibility & license
Dash is built with Moodle's own template system and the Bootstrap components of Moodle's standard theme Boost, so it follows your theme's colours and fonts. We have not published a formal WCAG audit yet — if something gets in your way, tell us and we will fix it. Released under GPLv3, like Moodle itself.
