Free add-ons
Small plugins that do one job
Free, open source and focused. Open an add-on to see what it does, then download it directly.
Downloads require a free bdecent account.
Two admin tools that work as a pair. Bulk backup creates backups of a whole category, a category with all subcategories, or any set of courses, and lets you download them one by one or as a single ZIP.
Bulk restore takes many .mbz files, or ZIPs bundling them, and restores each into a new course in the category you choose. On the same site or a different one.
Key features
- Preview exactly which courses will be backed up before anything starts
- Each course runs as its own background task, so one failure doesn't stop the rest
- Status pages that refresh while backups and restores are running
- English, German and Spanish included
Alpha, requires Moodle 4.5 or later and a running cron. Restore always creates new courses and uses your site's default restore settings.
A lightweight way to sell courses to business clients without a full shop. Your clients buy credits through the invoicing you already use. You assign the credits to users in Moodle, by hand or by upload, and learners spend them to enrol.
Set up in minutes, no payment gateway required.
Now included · formerly Course Credits From XP
Turn experience points into credits
XP collected with the Level Up plugin can be converted into credits automatically. Learners then use them to enrol in more courses or unlock activities, so effort pays off beyond the leaderboard.
Key features
- Credits stored in the user profile
- Set a price in credits per course
- Enrolment deducts credits, only if enough are available
- Convert Level Up XP into credits (see below)
Companion add-on: Restriction by credit puts a credit price on single activities and resources instead of the whole course.
Source code & issues on GitHub ↗Poster gives teachers a separate page inside the course whose content is made of Moodle blocks: HTML, calendar, latest news and so on. Useful blocks get their own place, and the course main page stays clean.
Use it as
- Course wall or dashboard
- Project dashboard with goals, calendar and comments
- Research report with goals, methods and results
- Responsive in Boost-based themes
Originally written by David Mudrák, now maintained by bdecent.
Source code & issues on GitHub ↗A preset for the Boost theme that keeps Moodle's navigation and layout but gives it a cleaner look. Install it by uploading one SCSS file; switch back to the default preset at any time.
What changes
- Fewer borders, limited content width
- Clearer hierarchy and typography
- Activity completion moved to the right
- Tidier drawer and a subtle dashboard animation
Alpha: test before using on a production site. Pure only changes styles and can't break your site.
Works like Credit enrolment, but on single activities and resources instead of the whole course. Combine it with other conditions, for example to let one group in without paying.
One condition instead of many: restrict activities, resources or sections until learners have completed another section, usually the previous one. Simpler for teachers, and it reads better for learners.
Good to know
- No configuration after install
- Works on activities, resources and sections
Embed a whiteboard as its own activity, so learners see right away what kind of content they're about to use. Teachers only add the board ID.
Requirements
- Moodle 4.0 or later
- A free or paid MIRO or Conceptboard account
- SSL on your site (needed for Conceptboard)
A block that makes discussion part of the course. Learners comment on activities and resources, follow what's new, and collect what matters.
